Women’s golf places three on WGCA All-America teams


AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Women’s Golf has placed three student-athletes on the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America teams, which were unveiled this week. Agathe Laisne and Kaitlyn papp won second-team honors, while Sara Kouskova received an honorable mention. It was the first career honor for Kouskova, the second for Laisne and the fourth for Papp of the WGCA.

Kouskova, from Prague, Czech Republic, has played eight times this season and finished in the top 20 as an individual. She also earned her first collegiate victory, doing so with a minus 10-under 206 at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational in March. Kouskova recorded a second place in the top 10 with a ninth place at Bruzzy in April. The junior averages 72.16 strokes per round, just +0.16 from par for the year. In fourteen of her 25 rounds of competition, she shot at par or better and finished with the # 27 national rating on Golfstat.

Laisne, from Paris, France, has played seven times for Texas and has finished six times in the top 20 individually. Four of those outings put Laisne in the top seven on the field, including a second best of the season at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational in March. She shot par or better in 12 of 22 rounds, including six in the 60s for the Longhorns, and finished averaging 71.82 shots per round in her last college season. Laisne concluded the 2020-21 campaign ranked 16th nationally by Golfstat.

Papp, a native of Austin, has finished in the top 15 in the seven college appearances she has made this season. Five of those outings were in the top 10 for the now quadruple All-American. Papp’s best efforts came when she tied for fourth at the Betsy Rawls Invitational and NCAA Louisville Regional. She averaged 71.10 strokes per round, almost a full stroke below par on average. Papp has shot by or better in 12 of her 20 collegiate rounds, including seven in the 60s. She finished 7th nationally on Golfstat.
