JPMorgan Chase to release third quarter results ahead of Wednesday’s opening bell

• Revenue: $ 3 per share, up 2.6% year-over-year according to Refinitiv

JPMorgan Chase, the first major bank to release third quarter results, will be watching closely for signs of inflection points in the industry’s weak lending growth.

Consumers and businesses have been filled with cash this year thanks to government incentives, the repayment of credit card balances and the use of fewer business loans. That’s why CEO Jamie Dimon began calling the loan request “difficult” in April.

Another area of ​​interest is the company’s Wall Street trading and advisory division. For most of the pandemic and booming deals, the issuance and merger of IPOs has come at a high cost for JP Morgan’s investment banks.

This should ease in the third quarter. JP Morgan executive Marianne Lake said last month that trade returns were 10% lower than they were a year ago, during the exceptionally strong quarter.

Dimon may be asked about a bank’s acquisition strategy after a series of recent transactions. Last month, the bank acquired restaurant reviewer service Infatuation and college planning platform Frank. This was after acquiring FinTech start-ups three times in the past year.

JP Morgan’s stock has risen 31% this year, after the KBW Bank index rose 38%.
