Football prepares to host UANL Femenil & Houston Tigers

AUSTIN, Texas – It’s time to begin Texas Soccer’s spring 2022 home schedule as the Longhorns prepare to host Tigres UANL Femenil (Thursday, 7 p.m. CT) and Houston (Saturday, 7 p.m. CT) at Mike A Stadium. Myers.

Admission to all spring home soccer games is free, while parking is encouraged in the Manor Garage (regular parking fees will apply). There will be no televised spring home games.

Thursday’s game is a special exhibition against Tigres UANL Femenil, a Mexican women’s soccer club based in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The club is the most successful (four titles) in the brief history of the Liga BBVA MX Femenil, the elite of women’s professional football in Mexico. Tigres currently sit second in the Clausura table with 33 points (10-0-3 record) after finishing first in the Apertura (47 points, 15-0-2 record).

Tigres UANL Femenil currently have three of the seven top scorers in the league, Stephany Mayor (11 goals), Mia Fishel (seven goals) and Uchenna Kanu (seven goals). Mayor (Mexico) and Kanu (Nigeria) are also currently playing in their respective national teams, while Fishel was a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-American who scored 32 goals in total in the past three seasons (2019-21) in as a forward at UCLA.

The Burnt Orange & White began their 2022 spring slate on March 5 with a 3-0 victory over Texas State at the Bobcat Soccer Complex in San Marcos, TX.

Although he played without the services of first-year players Trinity Byars, Lexi Missimo and holly roomwho were on international duty at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship, the Longhorns secured a brace in a first-year transfer Jilly Shimkin and a goal from the junior striker Sydney Nobles pass the Bobcats.

Byars (tied for second – 34 points) and Missimo (fourth – 32 points) finished the fall 2021 campaign as two of the Big 12 conference’s top four scorers. the Big 12 conference, Missimo scored nine goals (tied for fourth in the Big 12) and delivered a Texas freshman record 14 assists, while first-team All-Big 12 selection Byars finished third in the league with 12 goals to go. with 10 assists (tied for fourth in the Big 12).
